About Us

Our Legacy

The story of Country Boy Superette began in 1974 as the only truck stop and small grocery store in the area. After a nearby gas station robbery tragically claimed three lives, the original owner sold the store to my grandparents, Barbara Sue and Paul Bailey, just months after opening. From then on, it became a beloved local spot where farmers would gather for 6 AM coffee with Paul, while Barbara cooked up hearty breakfasts of biscuits and gravy or fried egg sandwiches.

I was born within a year of my grandparents taking over the store, and my childhood was filled with memories of raiding the candy aisle, stocking shelves, and playing Ghosts & Goblins in the arcade. My grandparents' entrepreneurial spirit didn't stop there; they purchased the property next door and established Brackeen Trailer Sales, securing exclusive rights to sell WW Trailers—a legacy we proudly continue to this day.

When Paul passed away in the mid-90s, Barbara Sue sold the Country Boy store but kept the trailer sales business. My uncle Gam, my hero, started as a shop worker and worked his way up to running the company. He remains a daily presence, sharing stories of the past and the rich history of our family business.

My Journey
Growing up in the family business instilled in me a strong work ethic and diverse skill set. In my early 20s, I left small-town McKinney for the vibrant life of Deep Ellum, where I ambitiously built a 7,400-square-foot nightclub, Club Rapture. This venture led to the opening of two more clubs within two years. However, when Deep Ellum’s fortunes turned, I returned to McKinney and opened several restaurants and bars, including Cadillac Pizza Pub with Uncle Gam and Barbara Sue.

In 2015, facing permitting challenges for Eastbound & Down Ice House in Dallas, I decided to use a food truck as the kitchen. This decision introduced me to the world of food trucks. Selling BBQ from my short bus food truck quickly revealed the potential of this mobile kitchen model, and I soon found myself needing a larger vehicle for bigger events like the Sturgis biker rally and the State Fair of Texas.

The Birth of Country Boy Food Trucks
Recognizing the demand for custom-built food trucks, I utilized my construction skills to build a Freightliner Box Truck outfitted with a Cummins Diesel engine. The beautifully crafted truck drew attention everywhere I went, leading to requests for custom builds. I began constructing food trucks for others at a fraction of the usual cost, combining my construction expertise and service industry experience.

Today, Country Boy Food Trucks operates from the original Country Boy location, bringing my journey full circle. We are dedicated to building high-quality, custom food trucks, honoring our family legacy while helping others achieve their food truck dreams.
